We appreciate your interest in FoodScanner. The protection of your privacy is very important to us.

1. Camera Access

The camera is used strictly locally to capture barcodes (EAN-13). No video feeds or images are transmitted to servers.

2. Anonymous Device ID (UUID)

The app generates a random device ID to enforce the daily scan limit and for anonymous usage statistics.

3. Location Tracking (GPS) – Optional

Location tracking is only performed after explicit consent. Coordinates are immediately rounded to 2 decimal places (approx. 1.1 km inaccuracy).

4. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"). Google Analytics uses cookies. Under Google Analytics 4 (GA4), IP anonymization is enabled by default, meaning your IP address will be truncated by Google before transmission to the USA.

• Purpose: Analysis of website usage to improve our service and user experience.
• Legal Basis: Legitimate interest (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f GDPR) to optimize our web presentation.
• Opt-Out: You can prevent the collection and processing of your data by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

5. Server Log Files & Hosting

The website is hosted on Vercel. Upon access, connection data is automatically logged and deleted after a short period.
